We are excited to be starting our Unit of Inquiry, called "Helping Hands." This unit is an inquiry into who helps us and how they help us in our community. We would be thrilled if you could visit us and tell us about your job. Please let your child' teacher know so that a time can be scheduled for your visit.
Start talking to your child about who they might like to dress up as, as part of our Community Helpers Day on Tuesday March 31st. As the month progresses, you could discuss what tools they use and what clothes you will make and wear. eg. A baker could wear an apron and a hat made out of white tissue paper. He/she could carry a large wooden spoon and a bowl.
Encourage your child to help set the table in the evening, tidy their room, write a shopping list and plan a meal with you. We will also be writing letters to each other. Your child may like to send email messages to grandparents, write letters to friends, or make cards for friends and family.
Please feel free to talk to your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns.

February is a busy month in Kindergarten!
We are coming to the end of our UOI on Materials, called "Rock, Paper, Scissors". The students have explored many different materials and their properties and uses (paper, plastic, rubber, metal, glass and wood). Please see the links under Kindergarten useful websites below for further exploration at home about materials.
The students' vocabulary has increased with this unit. Ask you child what waterproof and flexible mean?
In Math we have been exploring measurement using non-standard units of measurement (measuring using cubes and paper clips).
We are very excited about the upcoming Math week and the 100th day of School!
The children are really looking forward to starting to swim in P.E. from Sunday 8 February. Please make sure your child comes to school with the necessary items labelled in a bag.
Please continue to review the weekly newsletter and feel free to ask your child's teacher if you have any questions.
Thanks to all the family support with the Homes project! Ask your child to tell you about the houses that they have seen in Kindergarten!
Please take photographs of different kinds of homes that you may see on your travels during the Winter break. We would love your child to share them with the class in January.
Enjoy your holidays and travel safely over the winter break!
